Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains in plain words what data MamaWays uses, why, and the rights you have.

1. What data we collect

  • Account data: email address and an encrypted (hashed) password, or your Google sign-in.
  • Profile data you choose to share: name, city, languages, your baby's age or due date, interests, short intro, Instagram handle and profile photo.
  • Verification selfie: used only to confirm you are a real person. It is stored privately and seen only by you and the admin.
  • Community content: messages, questions, answers, meetups and RSVPs.
  • Contact form messages and technical data needed to run the site securely (e.g. IP address in server logs).

2. Why we use it (legal basis)

  • To provide the community, profiles, messages and meetups — Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract).
  • Photos, selfie and information about your baby — your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it anytime by removing the data or deleting your account.
  • Service emails (welcome, meetup invites, reminders, message alerts) and security — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

3. Who can see your data

Your profile is visible only to signed-in members. Direct messages are visible only to the two people in the chat. We do not sell your data and we use no advertising or tracking cookies — only the technically necessary sign-in session.

4. Service providers

We use carefully selected processors to host the app, store data, sign you in and send emails (cloud hosting and database provider, and an email delivery service). They process data only on our instructions under data processing agreements. Where data is processed outside the EU, it is protected by EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Questions on the "Ask" page may be processed by an AI service to suggest helpful answers.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your data as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, messages, RSVPs, hosted meetups and photos are permanently removed. Public questions and answers stay visible without your name.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your data, and to object to processing (Art. 15–21 GDPR). You can delete your account yourself on your profile page, or email us. You may also complain to a data protection authority, e.g. the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg.

7. Changes

We may update this policy as MamaWays grows. The latest version is always on this page.
